2011 Handbell Festival

Dr. Michael Mazzatenta, Guest Conductor for the 2011 Handbell Festival

The Guest Conductor of the 2011 Festival will be Michael Mazzatenta. 

Dr. Michael Mazzatenta is an award-winning composer of multiple competitions sponsored by Areas I, II, III, XI, and XII of the Handbell Musicians of America (Formerly known as the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers). Additionally, Michael was the double winner of both the Youth and Adult categories in Area II – making Area II history. Michael received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance from Arizona State University and performs nationally as a concert organist, accompanist, handbell director, and jazz pianist. He is an Adjunct Faculty member at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, AZ - teaching Class Piano and Jazz Combo. Michael also directs both adult and children’s handbell groups in Phoenix. He resides with his wife Joan, also a musician, as well as realtor, in Mesa, Arizona.

The Event is open to all Handbell Choirs – Church or Community.  Partial choirs and individuals are welcome.  Complete Brochure and Registration form will be uploaded soon.  Registration deadline is February 16 or if/when the festival reaches capacity at 30 choirs.
